Rotary International is a worldwide network of inspired individuals who translate their passions into relevant social causes to change lives in communities.

Made up of over 34,000 Rotary clubs around the world, Rotary International forms a global network of business, professional, and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve communities locally and around the world – and form strong, lasting friendships in the process.

Our motto, Service Above Self, exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide . Service efforts are directed toward our areas of focus:
  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development
Our Winthrop area club was founded in 1948, (#6321) as sponsored by the Rotary Club of Augusta. Over the years, membership has experienced the usual ebb and flow that follows economic cycles with  business expansion and contraction, with membership numbers as high as the mid-fifties to a low of a dozen, several years ago.

Our membership is from Winthrop and the surrounding communities both working and retired professionals - numbering (but not limited to) less than twenty. This number affords a high degree of fellowship and we are all on the 'Board of Directors'. See Officers.

We are one of fifty-three clubs in Rotary District 7790, a district which is made up of much of mid & northern Maine and Quebec.

We end each meeting with a recitation of Rotary's Four Way Test
