Rotary International has been called A Global Network of Community volunteers. Established in 1905, it was a means for local professionals to use their vocational skills to aid their fellow man. Since then, Rotary has grown to be the largest non-political, non-religious, non-governmental organization in the world. It is the only non-governmental organization to have a seat at the UN, the largest source of privately funded scholarships and has led the way in the campaign to eradicate polio from the planet. Why join Rotary?
Maybe you’ve seen a need in our own community and wondered how you could help. Maybe you want to use your professional skills to help others — or even learn new skills. Maybe you’re seeking connections with other service-minded professionals in our community or abroad.
Whatever your reason, joining Rotary can help you achieve these goals, and so much more
There's something that all Rotary club members have in common: We take action. As community volunteers, we reach out to neighbors in need. We build, support, and organize. We save lives. We work locally and globally.
Around the world and around the corner, the 1.3 million men and women of Rotary
- Get involved in their communities
- Connect with other professionals
- Share their time and experience with young people
- Support global causes, such as eradicating polio
- Use their skills to help others
All Rotary clubs aim to serve their community and those in need throughout the world. Through club service projects, members learn more about local and international issues, and can volunteer their time and talents where they are most needed.
Club meetings give members the opportunity to build friendships, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, and meet other business leaders in their community. Whether you're a veteran volunteer or new to community service, we're looking for people like you. Interested in getting to know the Winthrop Club?
